“Don’t Stress Practice Guide for Parents”
Your Child's Piano Journey…
Your child is embarking on a musical voyage!
Here’s a simple weekly guide!
Piano Practice is Predominately Done at Their Lessons! Yes! New songs are usually prepped or passed during their weekly piano sessions! Students will simply review any assigned songs or music theory concepts at home during the week!
Peer Motivation to Practice Can Be Phenomenal! It’s Magical! Students who enjoy a friendly challenge will often bypass common practice struggles at home with the freedom to progress faster than their fellow peers and to learn more new songs on their own if they wish!
Learning is Self-Paced! My aim is to equip all students with the ability to teach themselves how to ‘figure out’ new music…yet at their own pace!
Video Helps to Assist! Yes, lesson notes from their piano sessions will include a link for practice video helps. It’s like having a personal piano tutor at home!
Personal Binders for Practice Instructions! This will be your child's roadmap. It'll have the weekly assignments of songs and musical concepts to focus on for their next session.
Start with Warm-Ups! Students should always start with the assigned warm-ups. (It’s like stretching before a race.) It’ll get the fingers and bodies ready to play and also develop those “musical muscles”.
How Much Practice? Students will track their practice times/days on the assignment sheet each week. Don’t stress though! This is only to help me see how they're progressing. We have those crazy, busy weeks! (I’ll know if a student is practicing sufficiently enough for progress. Striving to record more practice days often times focuses mainly on the minutes, rather than the experience of simply playing the piano and creating beautiful music!)
My aim is always that students are spending fun, quality time playing the piano outside of their lessons and hopefully becoming addicted to the piano learning experience!
Let's build fabulous piano players together!
